[SOTW] Allen Toussaint - “Southern Nights”

Allen Toussaint’s song “Southern Nights”, from his 1975 album- with the same name, was later recorded by country music singer Glen Campbell.

Toussaint performed the song in the key of ‘F#’, using several of the glimmering black keys on the piano. This version is a beautiful ballad, by a great piano player with ‘story-telling’ lyrics - a signature of Toussaint’s style of New Orleans rhythm and blues.

The song is featured in the 2017 film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and was included on the movie’s soundtrack album.
